Love is a tricky business, and that’s what Cupid Kerfuffle is all about. Cupid Kerfuffle is a cross between Apples to Apples and Tinder.

It is a local multiplayer game where everyone plays on their phones while there is a shared screen that displays important information, similar to the games in the Jackbox Party Pack.

Cupid Kerfuffle has 3 main components of character-baking, match-making and opinion-staking. The game is split into rounds. The number of rounds is equal to the number of players. Each round consists of 2 distinct phases: creation and ranking.

The game begins in the creation phase. Each player is shown a unique prompt. Using our character creator, each player creates a profile on their phone that they believe accurately represents that prompt.

The profile creator features a wide variety of different possible pieces from which players can choose. They have control over every part of the profile. They can change things like skin and hair color, hair styles, head and body shape, shirt, nose, eyes, and the list goes on. The player also gets to type in information about the profile they are creating. In addition to providing things like first and last name, the players get to decide the profile’s hobby, occupation, favorite movie, quote and ideal date. In combination with the profile picture, this information really breathes life and personality into each character.

Once all players have submitted the profiles they’ve created, the game moves into the ranking phase. One created profile is shown on the main screen. All players are tasked with ranking a series of procedurally generated potential matches for the profile shown. Each player’s rankings are judged against the rankings of the player who created the profile. In this sense, the profile creator makes the master key to which all other rankings are compared.

Potential matches that are ready to be ranked appear on the player’s screen as a small image of that character. Each player then drags and drops the image onto the meter to represent whether they believe that character is or is not a good match for the created profile.

When the ranking phase is complete, the player whose rankings were closest to the creator’s rankings wins that round. The winner receives points relative to how close their rankings were to the creator’s rankings. The game continues until each player’s created profile has gone through the ranking phase.

Simply pull out your smartphones and fire up the game to get into a mess of dating world action! Prove you know the most about love and life in Cupid Kerfuffle!
